Junior Star Skate
StarSkate offers opportunities for skaters of all ages to develop fundamental figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. Unique in Canada, this program teaches figure skating skills in a group and/or private lesson format in a progressive and sequential manner and includes specifically designed awards and incentives. Skaters have the opportunity to take Skate Canada Tests through a nationally standardized testing system. Skaters who have mastered figure skating skills in STARSkate may also choose to pursue synchronized skating or pairs skating.
Skater's in the Junior Star Skate program should have completed CanSkate Stage 5 or graduated from our ITS program. All skaters in the Junior Star Skate program are required to register for minimum two sessions per week. Junior Star Skate sessions consist of 1.25 hour on-ice with the following format:
- 30 minutes of group lessons included in registration fees
- additional 15 minutes of private/semi-private lessons (not included in registration fees and build separately - minimum 1 lesson/session)
- 15 minutes of skater directed practice
Dryland/Off-Ice is offered twice a week as a group class to work on flexibility, cardio, jump development and more! Dryland training is just as vital as time on the ice. It provides an opportunity to safely introduce new movement and promotes skater development across all disciplines.

- Coach Heidi
- Coach Vicki
- Coach Emily
- Coach Sage
- Coach Hailey
- Coach Katie
If you have any questions, concerns or are emailing about your skater missing their ice time, please email coach@leducskating.com.
Coaching Fees
Additional instruction (private & semi-private lessons) will be billed directly by the coaches in the month following the instruction. Payment is due 7 days after receiving an invoice and will be subject to 15% interest for late payments. Each coach is a general contractor to LSC and individual skaters, and fees vary from $8-14 (plus GST) /15 minute lesson, depending on the coach.
We recommend budgeting for a minimum of one private lesson per skating session. Your skater may also be given an additional semi-private lesson to utilize coaches. If you would like to request additional semi or private lessons, please email coach@leducskating.com
If your skater cannot make it to a session, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance. If less notice is given and their lesson slot cannot be filled, you will be charged the applicable lesson fees.
When applicable, free-skate program music cutting is completed by the coaches. Music cutting fees range from $24-$50/program.
STAR Assessments
Star 1-5 assessments are conducted across all core disciplines (free skate, skills, dance & artistic) by the coaching team. When your skater is ready for one of these assessments you will be notified by email so you can purchase a $12 assessment fee.
Assessments are conducted during regular lesson time. If required, an assessment may take place over two lesson slots.
